ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT (DGEIS)

The Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DGEIS) evaluates the potential impacts associated with the Long-Term Plan and compares them to those associated with alternatives. The DGEIS identifies mitigation methods, cumulative impacts, unavoidable adverse impacts, and the need for an irretrievable commitment of County resources. The complete DGEIS can be downloaded in sections by referring to the Introduction and Organization of the DGEIS.

Our Mission

Suffolk County has been fighting mosquitoes since 1934. With the appearance of West Nile Virus, determining what the best methods are to control mosquitoes is more relevant than ever. This project will provide a blueprint for controlling mosquitoes in a way that maximizes protection from mosquito-borne diseases while minimizing the human health and environmental risks associated with vector control. The project will develop Open Marsh Water Management and other methods to assist Suffolk County Vector Control with their efforts to protect and restore wetlands under their management.
