7. Vector Control Pesticides Environmental Impacts
The literature on the impacts of adulticides on terrestrial
wildlife is evaluated as well as aquatic receptors such as
fish, crustaceans, aquatic insect larvae, mollusks, algae,
and amphibians. The toxicological literature is derived largely
from New York City and Westchester County Environmental Impact
Statements and supplemented by recent studies. Toxicity data
for pets is presented, if available. The search will be used
to identify dose-response and hazard data in a variety of
wildlife species, including non-target insects, insectivorous
birds. Drs. McElroy and Brownawell of the SUNY at Stony Brook,
Marine Science Research Center reviewed data on the toxicity,
persistence, and fate of mosquito control pesticides in the
